ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

  • Be knowledgeable of all Agency policies and procedures that relate to the provision of ISL services.
  • Be knowledgeable of all Medicaid and state regulations that relate to the provision of ISL services.
  • Monitor the health and safety of the individuals receiving residential services
  • Provide appropriate delegation and supervision of Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who perform such duties as medication administration and other nursing tasks when applicable, and document those activities. (Nursing Practices Act Chapter 335 RSMo.)
  • Account for time dedicated to the functions of the Community RN Program each month. This will be accomplished by completion of the Monthly Service Log. 
  • Complete a monthly service log reflecting the hours of service.
  • Complete the Monthly Health Summary each month.
  • Provide training related to the provision of services to Agency staff. 
  • Attend treatment plan meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate with the local pharmacy to address medication issues and other concerns, as needed.
  • Complete discharge summaries for individuals that have medical needs.
  • Coordinate with physician offices concerning any medical issues, as needed.
  • Complete medication audits for all residential homes
  • Participate in the Community RN Orientation Training within 90 days of hire.
  • In conjunction with Administrator, review incident reports quarterly to identify trends and make recommendations to the QA/QI Team.
  • Participate in all agency required meetings or committees.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, employees, persons served, and guardians.
  • Assist with administering special projects, as needed.
  • Express ideas clearly and be able to plan an execute work effectively.
  • Positively represent LIVING WITH PURPOSE.
  • Maintain current training requirements and personnel record.
  • Provide Medication Administration training
  • Other duties as required by senior management.

Qualification Requirements

  • The Registered Nurse must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Missouri
  • Certified Level 1 Medicaid Administration trainer

Preferred Experience

  • Two years of postgraduate experience working with people with developmental disabilities.

Training

  • Registered Nurse licensed by the State of Missouri, current CPR and First Aid certificates.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable automobile with insurance, training up to date, an acceptable criminal background report, and no listing on state department employee disqualification lists.

Accuracy Required In Work And Consequence Of Error: The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing services for the local office. The role has the potential to severely affect the business, reputation of the agency and the health and safety of individuals served and staff. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the local office complies with all the governing bodies’ rules and regulations. Noncompliance could result in losing licenses or privileges held by the Agency.

Supervision and Training Provided To Employee:  Immediate supervisor is the Administrator. The local office will provide initial training. On-going training provided by supervisor and other outside agencies. 

Physical Effort:  A variety of physical activities are possible, depending on the needs of training of the agency. There could be extensive driving required and interaction with individuals served at each local office. Effort will be made to make accommodations for any physical limitations.

Work Environment and Conditions: The Registered Nurse works primarily in environmentally controlled offices where conditions are pleasant, although visits to the sites where services are being provided are necessary in order to ensure the provision of service to the persons served.
